Edventures 06: Tour of Rattling Creek Trail System - "Sub Epic" Loop

For Edventures Ep 6, Chris and I took a loop around the Rattling Creek Trail System (RCTS) IMBA Epic loop. Well, we did half of it. The full loop is a long hard ride. Even the half will take a bit out of you and makes for a hard day on the mountain bike.

We started at Minnich Hit Picnic area and headed up the snowmobile trails to Wolf Pond and checked out the hang glider launch and then into Rock's Ridge. Then we descended to Matter Trail and then up Preserve Line Trail. At the top of that climb, we turned on Schreffler Trail. Turning right, we descended on Dry Gultch and into Rattling Creek Trail.

Rattling Creek Trail is one of my favorite trails. It is long and flowy and just snakes it's way around the contours of the terrain. And it ends with a cool switchback descent across a couple wooden bridges. We popped out onto the dirt road and made our way back to the car pretty spent at that point.

Check out more information about RCST at the SAMBA (Susquehanna Area Mountain Bikers Association) website and be sure to help them out for their trail work days this winter where they are working to open up an entirely new area of the trail system for spring. Passing up a single ride to help lend a hand will go a long way to getting the trail completed. http://sambabiker.com/samba/weiser-state-forest-rcst/
